The Race Truck

Freightliner Trucks rolled out their long anticipated rack and pinion steering package in 2008. Mike Ryan's Freightliner Cascadia Race Truck was the inspiration for development of this new technology. Being the first in the industry to offer this specifically for trucks, the system offers increased control and responsiveness. It’s lighter and there are fewer moving parts than steering systems used in heavy duty trucks. Ryan installed the system prior to the 1999 Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
